World Radiography Day marks the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays in 1895. Today, the World Radiography Day is celebrated all over the world by the Radiographic community as an iconic day to make realize the value of Radiography and related technologies to public, other health professionals and indeed, ourselves. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of radiographic imaging and therapy, which play a crucial role in the diagnosis and the treatment of patients and, most importantly, ensuring radiation is kept to the minimum required, hence improving the quality of patient care.
In our country Indian Society of Radiographers and Technologists, the apex national proffessional body of Indian Radiographers and Radiological Technologists leads the celebrations in each and every nuke and corner of Indian Penisula.
As you aware that the programmes organized by ISRT during the WRD in the last five years were a grand success in all its meaning. We celebrated World Radiography Day with various programmes like Continuing Medical Education Programmes (CME), Exhibition for Public and Radiation awareness Survey.
This year, ISRT is planning to popularize the WRD celebration. For that, we have put forward a plan in which every person & institution can participate at level which suits them best!
So, please come forward to participate in a way you like, to boost the esteem of our community. We are ready to offer you any possible support in this regard.

Modes Operands
WRD is planned to be celebrated with a series of programmes extending from 8th November to 22ndDecember, in a multi formatted way. There are 3 levels in which you can participate.
Level C
- By fixing posters and stickers in your Department or outside.
- By distributing booklets and brochures to other Health professionals working in your institution.
Level B
- By conducting awareness surveys among public and other Health Professionals.
- By conducting Exhibitions of Radiological equipments and procedures to public and other invited Guests.
- By organizing meetings in which you and your department staffs co-operate. Invite your head of institution/ an important person in your premises as a guest of Honor.
- Arrange seminars in your department. It can be a single presentation by a Radiographer, Radiologist or a Company person. ISRT is ready to provide presenters in selected topics as per conditions and availability.
- Conducting Quiz competition in Radiological Science inside your institution.
Level A
- Conducting ISRT sponsored exhibition on the development of Radiology and Radiation safety.
- Conducting Quiz competition on Radiological Science at your institute in which other institutions can participate.
How can we support you?
- will provide posters, booklets and stickers to be displayed.
- ISRT will provide you with survey forms for public and other health Professionals. These forms are to be mailed back after filling up.
- ISRT will provide you with speakers/ presenters in various topics for presentation according to availability. You should forward a written request to ISRT at least 2 week beforehand.
- We will provide flex boards for Exhibition. (Awareness in Radiology & Radiation Protection for public. (Around 70 flex boards). Open space/ auditorium should be provided. Permission to allot flex boards should be forwarded beforehand and dates should be confirmed.
ISRT offers prizes for the Institution who conducts the WRD event in a befitting manner. Cash prize with memento and Merit Certificate will be awarded to three institutions based on assessment by expert committee. After the celebrations, send a report of your programme with attached photos. An expert committee will decide the prizes. Last date for submission - Dec 30th2011.
